University of Hong Kong In a previous article, Wheeler made numerous statements about the Chinese in Hong Kong that were inaccurate and disparaging or simply incorrect. These statements pertained to such areas as materialism, sexuality, and feminism. The tone of his article was also frequently sarcastic. This comment is an attempt to correct the more major inaccuracies and to highlight the serious implications of Wheeler's article, which was a divisional presidential address as well as a published work.
