One More Look at Social and Environmental Psychology: Away from the Looking Glass and into the Future

Richard J. Borden

Purdue University

This paper examines the social-environmental psychology exchange which has appeared in recent issues of this publication. Specific attention is paid to the overlooked emerging areas of theory and research on the psychology of environmental concern. Over a dozen of these new topic areas are outlined. Finally, it is concluded that social psychologists, perhaps more than any other professional group, have much to offer in designing an environmentally benign future.
